Invitation of Mystic Messenger Episodes 01–02
This post covers Episodes 01 and 02 of the official Mystic Messenger webtoon, Invitation of Mystic Messenger (check out my game intro and Another Story walkthrough if you’re new!). These two episodes set the stage: we get Hana’s background story, how she ends up crossing paths with the RFA, and her chance encounter with a mysterious stranger named Rika. The webtoon does a surprisingly good job of explaining why Hana would actually agree to help the RFA — which the game kind of glosses over.

Episode 01
Hana’s life is kind of falling apart all at once — she just got laid off, her rent got hiked, and her job search is going nowhere. She completely breaks down on the street. That’s when a woman with long golden hair appears and gently listens to everything she has to say, even telling her, “You’ve already done your very best.” Hana can’t hold back the tears.
Episode 02
The golden-haired woman has to leave early, but before she goes, she tells Hana she’d love to hear Hana’s story next time — and that she feels like the two of them could become great friends. The thing is, she accidentally leaves her phone behind, and Hana can’t track her down to return it.
On top of that, with no stable income and her rent going up, Hana gets forced out of her apartment. She’s desperately looking for a new place, but she’s still determined to return the phone to its owner.
Hana opens an app on the phone and ends up chatting with someone who goes by “Unknown.” He says he can help, and just… gives her an address. “This is super sketchy — who just hands out their address?” But Hana decides to go anyway. That decision changes her life.
She arrives to find an incredibly fancy building. Unknown gives her the door code. The moment she steps inside, the app on the phone goes haywire — and suddenly, the screen shows that she’s been added to a chatroom.
Hana stumbling into the chatroom throws everyone into a panic, since she’s clearly an outsider — and 707 quickly figures out she’s inside Rika’s apartment. While everyone’s freaking out, V steps in and says he doesn’t think Hana is dangerous. He arranges to meet her at a café near the apartment in 30 minutes. Hana asks if she can meet the phone’s original owner too, but V says they’ll talk about that later.
At the café, Hana recognizes V immediately — he looks exactly like his profile photo…
