Invitation of Mystic Messenger Episode 03
V confirms that the phone Hana has is Rika’s. But here’s the thing — even though V owns the apartment, he doesn’t know the door code, because Rika’s address is classified. So the way V sees it, the fact that Hana was able to get in means Rika wanted Hana to take over her work.
Hana finds this a little odd. Why is V the one telling her all this, instead of Rika herself? But V doesn’t want to get into it — he just tells her that if she takes on Rika’s role and keeps the RFA running, she can live in the apartment. (He glances at her bag and adds: I think the timing of this offer works out rather nicely for you.)
Hana pushes back immediately — she wasn’t trying to find free housing, she just wanted to return the phone! But V reassures her, and also points out that until they figure out who Unknown is, staying in Rika’s place is actually safer for her. That softens Hana up, and she agrees to take on the job and move in.
Her first night there, she barely sleeps. She really wants to see Rika again, and she can’t wrap her head around everything that just happened.
The next morning, the first RFA message she gets is from Jaehee. Jaehee is about to walk Hana through her responsibilities and voice some concerns about this whole situation — when Zen barges into the chatroom and immediately derails everything with a glamorous selfie. Jaehee’s response: delighted. [The webtoon is genuinely adorable here — it uses little visual icons to show everyone’s reactions >///< ]
Then Jumin and Yoosung join in, and the chat gets pretty lively. Eventually, Jaehee asks Hana to come to the office at 10:00 AM to discuss the upcoming party. Everyone says they’re looking forward to meeting her. Hana is the only one internally screaming.
She still can’t believe they’re meeting at C&R of all places.
She meets Jaehee in person, who gives her an ID card so she can come and go from C&R freely — and apparently Jumin has even set aside a whole office for her.
Jaehee: Since we were short on time, we put this office together at the last minute, so if you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Hana, internally: You’re telling me this was thrown together at the last minute???
While Jaehee goes to get the others, Hana sits alone in the office feeling completely out of place. Rika must have been such an important person — what if she can’t possibly live up to that?
Before she has a chance to spiral too far, all four RFA members — Jaehee, Jumin, Zen, and Yoosung — walk through the door.
