Invitation of Mystic Messenger Episode 08
Hana has just finished writing up a thorough report on the guest list when Zen calls out of nowhere. Turns out he’s at a nearby café and wants to bring her something to eat. Hana declines, saying the office already has plenty of food — but Zenny has other plans…
Zen: Fine, then I’ll just bring something over anyway. Stay there, darling!
That “darling” catches Hana completely off guard XD Before she can even react, Zen has already hung up.
A little while later, Zen shows up with that dazzling smile of his — iced tea in one hand, hot milk tea in the other, ready to cover all preferences.
Hana accepts them, though Zen can tell she’s not quite used to people doing things for her. But watching her sip the hot milk tea in tiny little sips, he thinks to himself: she’s so cute XD
While they’re drinking, Hana remarks that Zen always shows up without warning. Zen’s response:
Because I wanted to surprise you! And my radiant looks are a bonus ❤️
Hana is speechless. She thinks: If it were anyone else, I’d be dumbfounded — but I have to admit, when someone this good-looking says it, it’s kind of hard to argue.
Then the mood shifts. Zen brings up Yoosung’s attitude toward V in the chatroom the night before. He knows it must have been a shock for Hana, but he says it also made him realize how grateful he is that she took on this job. More than anything, he wants everyone to come away from this party with good memories. Zen grips his cup a little tighter, like he means what he’s about to say: “We need you, Hana.”
Hana responds with a bright smile and says the party planning is actually going really well!
She’s still a little unsettled by the tension between V and Yoosung, but at least now she understands where everyone’s coming from — and she feels a lot less distant from the group than she did before.
Zen realizes he’d been worrying for nothing. He thanks Hana again and gets ready to leave for that evening’s performance. Just as he’s heading out, Hana reaches out and tugs on the hem of his jacket. She thanks him for everything he did today, and invites him to grab coffee at a nice place together sometime.
Zen’s heart skips a beat — badum — and he thinks:
It’s probably just because I haven’t been on a date in a while (blush)
No wait — I think it’s just because Hana is so adorable. She’s making my heart flutter.
After Zen leaves, Hana gets back to work. The deeper she digs in, the more overwhelming everything feels — scheduling, party theme, guests — all of it needs careful consideration. But does she have to decide all of this by herself? She logs into the chat to ask for help.
Jaehee is online. Hana dumps all her worries at once, and Jaehee walks her through how Rika used to organize past parties. Apparently, once Rika had a theme in mind, she’d start reaching out to suitable guests (and also declining some), and she always communicated with attendees by email.
Then V logs on too. He thanks Hana for her hard work and says he’d like her to make the final call on both the party theme and the guest list — though he’ll also recommend a few people himself, and he’s actually heading out to visit some potential attendees now. Then he promptly logs off again.
Suddenly handed all this responsibility, Hana panics and rushes to Jaehee for backup. Jaehee says she has something to wrap up but can come by later.
Hana: Yes!!!! Please meet me!!!!!!
Jaehee actually laughs at this. She finds Hana’s outburst kind of endearingly weird.
They agree to meet up that evening.
