Mystic Messenger Ray After Ending Day 2 — Route Choice Recommendations

Here’s an online walkthrough I recommend. I hit the Bad Relationship Ending twice and I’m in mourning T_T

00:23 Unexpected Guest

In the secure chatroom, they spot the 707 avatar — but when Saeran joins, the person introduces themselves as an agent from the intelligence organization. The Boss told them to search Saeyoung’s phone, so they poked around to see what this RFA app was… and somehow ended up here.

It’s Vanderwood!!! (I think everyone saw that coming.)

Asked whether Saeyoung is safe, Vanderwood replies: we only get real peace when we’re dead T_T

Apparently this was Vanderwood’s assigned job, but they never expected the Boss to team up with the Prime Minister. The Boss can probably see this chatroom too — before leaving, you ask Vanderwood about their relationship with Saeyoung.

Vanderwood: 707 was… An interesting fella, I guess. He was smart. But his room was a mess all the time. So it was a nuisance to watch him…

You two are clearly so close though…

Both of you keep pleading with Vanderwood for help. Vanderwood’s response? Urging Saeran not to come — because if he does, he’ll end up being used just like his brother, discarded the moment his usefulness runs out. Better to hold onto the good memories of his brother and walk away.

Vanderwood: Listen to me when I say this – I’ve been with this agency for 12 years. RUN WHILE YOU CAN.

“Your brother is a good person,” Vanderwood says. “So remember that, and leave.”

Then Vanderwood says they’re going to delete all the chat logs and advises both of you to stop using this chatroom — leaving the two of you completely stunned.

Story Mode: Saeran

You’ve fallen asleep, and Saeran is beside you, murmuring quietly.

He doesn’t think Vanderwood was bluffing — but that means Saeyoung’s life after leaving Saeran has been anything but good. They’d promised to escape together, and yet things ended up like this.

Maybe he really could just walk away like Vanderwood suggested. But he’s already decided: he’s going to save Saeyoung. He wants to make up for the past and love him properly. He’s learned what love is, and he doesn’t want to waste his life on hatred and misunderstanding.

Saeran: You’re my miracle.

02:22 How to Use Vanderwood

They can still access the secure chatroom, so Saeran reasonably suspects Vanderwood didn’t actually hand the phone to the Boss — which might be the key to getting Saeyoung out.

Logic probably won’t work (why would someone risk their life for strangers? XD), so the move is obviously an emotional appeal. Saeran recounts their miserable childhood — how Saeyoung, physically stronger, protected Saeran in every way he could. “He is an angel.”

Saeran leaves a message for Vanderwood: I know you care about Saeyoung. Please reconsider and help us get him out.

08:00 ZEN is Awake!

Our world-class beautiful Zen wakes up! Of course he gets multiple consecutive shocks: learning the truth of what happened, finding out the whole SEVENSTAR DRINK scandal is swirling online and dragging down C&R and RFA’s reputations, and discovering not only that Rika is alive but that she was the leader of a cult… “Why didn’t you tell us?” he asks you.

Uh, if I were you (and I kind of am) I wouldn’t even know where to begin…

Since they’re in the hacked chatroom, Zen can’t help himself and directly calls out V and Rika, demanding they explain everything.

Despite how shaken he is, he thinks about the fact that someone else is going to be even more shocked (obviously Yoosung), and decides to go help out first.

Story Mode: Saeran (Game Branch)

Apparently this section has a Game Branch!!! Looks like I made it through, so here are my notes from the good path XD

When you and Saeran walk into Rika’s apartment building, the Boss and Saeyoung are waiting — the two of them handcuffed together. After years apart, Saeyoung is equal parts relieved to see how grown-up Saeran has become and baffled by why his hair and eyes have changed like this (honestly, same).

Walking in to find Saeyoung handcuffed T_T

He’s also genuinely shocked that the two of you actually showed up… (Saeyoung: If Jumin were awake, there’s no way this would have happened…)

The Boss speaks up: he’s made a deal with that “psychotic couple.” As long as Saeran appeared, Saeyoung’s life would be spared — and V did follow instructions. The catch? Saeyoung will spend the rest of his life as his father’s puppet, working for the Prime Minister.

Why keep them around? Because the twins will be incredibly useful campaign assets in the Prime Minister’s presidential run, and they can bring C&R down at the same time. (C&R is that influential, apparently — the political weight of Korean conglomerates is hard to overstate.)

Next, they’re going to hand the twins over to Rika. As for you — you weren’t part of the original plan, so the Boss hasn’t decided what to do with you yet.

Hearing all of this, Saeyoung doesn’t know who to trust anymore. But he pitches a deal to the Boss: he’ll follow every order (and come on, admit it — I’m your best agent) and hand over an important C&R chip. In exchange, Saeran and you go free.

The Boss thinks it over and agrees (probably the C&R chip was too tempting to pass up). On the way out, Saeyoung wishes them happiness and asks Vanderwood to escort them out.

09:45 Vanderwood’s Suggestion

A soft-hearted (?) Vanderwood lies to the Boss — says they couldn’t find the phone — and decides that as long as their own safety is guaranteed, they’ll help.

Vanderwood knows there’s no way the Boss will honor Saeyoung’s deal, and knows where Saeyoung will be taken next. So they arrange to meet you both somewhere busy to figure out the next steps.

Story Mode: 707

After some discussion, Saeran says he saw a flicker in Saeyoung’s eyes — a moment where he wanted to leave with them — before he chose to sacrifice himself. So Saeran decides to trust Vanderwood.

On Saeyoung’s end, he’s being filmed for a “confession” video. Seeing that perfectly combed-down hair on him makes the whole thing look so fake…

Never seen Saeyoung’s hair this flat before.

The video content, per his father’s wishes:

He was misled by his mother; he never did a DNA test himself, so the Prime Minister isn’t actually his blood relation.
He caused all this trouble out of a desire to rebel — to make RFA feel sorry for him and to make his “father” notice him.
The past two weeks, he’s been in therapy.

Sure. Okay.

Meanwhile — the Boss has Vanderwood verify whether the C&R chip location Saeyoung gave them is real. And Vanderwood actually finds a chip… on a pet!!! And apparently whenever C&R signs any major contract, the occasion always includes important personnel plus… a cat!!!

I think everyone can guess whose cat it is. So if they could just get their hands on the cat, they’d have C&R’s signatures.
That was a long-game setup if I’ve ever seen one!!!

The Boss orders Vanderwood to sedate Saeyoung. They comply.

11:37 Saeyoung Is With Rika

Saeyoung has been handed over to Rika. She gives a brief explanation: the reason the Prime Minister agreed to keep the twins alive is because they’ll help him run for president. And since Rika has done just as many shady things as he has, she’ll keep quiet — think of it as mutually assured destruction. If one betrays the other, neither will come out unscathed.

But it looks like Rika has already started drugging Saeyoung again…

Story Mode: Saeran

You meet up with Vanderwood on a busy street. Vanderwood keeps emphasizing their doubt that the agency will ever actually let the twins live; and Saeyoung really did reveal everything — once “the cat” is caught, C&R is done.

Another piece of news: Saeyoung is currently in V’s mansion, but he’s been drugged (likely with Mint Eye’s formula). Security inside is very tight, rotating guards every few days — meaning today is the only window where the plan can succeed.

They need both of you to disguise yourselves as agents to get inside, but since a female agent would be too conspicuous, you’ll move with Vanderwood while Saeran operates alone.

After discussion, you both agree to Vanderwood’s plan.

Over at C&R, an emergency meeting is underway on how to save the company — one option on the table is demanding both the Chairman and Jumin step down.

Then someone bursts in with news: H E W O K E U P!!!

13:15 Jumin Han Is Here

What a power move of a chatroom title — announcing that this man has woken up.

Zen follows shortly after, and of course the two of them bicker immediately. (Zen: I beat you, I woke up first ^_^) But naturally there’s also checking in on how Jumin is doing.

Jumin: My two best friends stabbed me in the back, and I fell asleep thanks to their sleeping gas.
And upon waking up, I have realized I am about to lose my position due to a member of RFA I have deemed a friend.
How much damage do you fathom it to be?

Q_Q The man has been betrayed by the entire world… Zen asks: so on a scale of 0 to 10, how devastated are you right now?
Jumin: Define what 0 means first.
Zen: 0 — completely wrecked, can’t even think about cats; 10 — totally fine, already brainstorming cat-themed business ventures.

While the two of them bicker (?), Jumin appears calm but mentions that because of Saeyoung’s video, C&R stock has already lost half its value, and a board meeting is being called to consider removing both the Chairman and Jumin from their positions.

So his immediate priority is to go to that meeting and get answers from the Chairman about why he invested in SEVENSTAR DRINK.

Notably, Jumin voluntarily admits that in the current situation, he may not be able to offer you and Saeran much support.

Story Mode

At the C&R board meeting, Jumin walks in and immediately issues a quick statement:

I will take full personal responsibility for all losses. As such, I will be stepping down from my current position. Since the head of RFA is unavailable, I have been effectively managing the organization; the public statement RFA released was made under my authority, so I take full responsibility for that as well.

A man of accountability T_T

Then he very briskly says: You’re recording this, right? Just send the footage to the media. I need to go find my father now. Bye. And walks out.

Meanwhile — it turns out Vanderwood took you away in order to hand you over to Rika.

In V’s home, Vanderwood tells Rika that Saeran escaped and they could only catch you. Rika is visibly displeased, and Vanderwood gets a call from the Boss at the same moment.

(After the Story Mode, V will call you, saying he didn’t fully agree with Rika’s methods but went along anyway, and that you’re welcome to stay. He also says he knows that even if Saeran ran, he wouldn’t go far — he’d never leave you there for long.)

(If you call V, he’ll tell you how he first met the Boss and how the intelligence organization grew.)

15:33 Vanderwood in Trouble

In the chatroom, Vanderwood apologizes to you. The original mission was to capture both of you, but they were moved by Saeyoung’s love for his brother — so they decided to lend a hand.

They figured handing you over would be enough, but the Boss clearly isn’t pleased. Vanderwood says that once they leave, they’re going on the run too… They’re struggling with it — having worked so hard and so long here, only to throw it all away for one moment of compassion.

Either way, they’ve decided to let fate play out. They’ll also return Saeyoung’s phone (even though he’s still unconscious).

Before logging off, Vanderwood almost jokes: if I run into trouble someday, would you come save me? Or at the very least… plan my funeral?

Then they disappear from the chatroom.

Story Mode: Savior

Rika says Vanderwood has suddenly gone AWOL; V needs to go confirm the chip situation with the intelligence organization. Once Saeran arrives, the two brothers will live with them permanently.

Rika: This will fulfill the twins’ childhood dream — living together with their brother and V and Rika forever. RFA chose to stand against the powerful, and look where that got them. So she and V decided to join the winning side.

Breaking news: Jumin announces his resignation.

Rika expected all of this. Now she just waits for Saeran to come rescue you.

18:00 Rika’s Request

Rika is impressed by how quickly Jumin moved to distance himself from the company — it shows just how remarkable he is. Reflecting on her time with RFA, she always felt like the members were so exceptional, while she herself had so many flaws. But she’s changed. She’s decided to live in the present joy.

And her joy is built around this little makeshift family (?) with Saeyoung, Saeran, and V.
Maybe because they’re “family,” she won’t need to prove how useful she is or search for meaning in life — they can just love each other unconditionally and mutually (I’m guessing here).

So! Her idea of saving the brothers is to keep them close (um).

She doesn’t believe Saeran has the power to take down the intelligence organization. Rika, the organization, and the Prime Minister can work together because they’re all covering for each other — a kind of evil equilibrium — and can deliver on each other’s demands.
Given how powerful they are, she advises RFA to stop fighting. The truth can come out, but society will forget it quickly.

She closes with an apology to the RFA members and hopes Saeran will come soon so the family can be reunited and his childhood dream fulfilled (?).

At that point V joins the chatroom, saying that once Saeran comes, you’ll be free to leave unharmed; in the future, once the situation with the Prime Minister stabilizes, he’ll try to help Jumin with C&R as well.

He tells you and Rika to come eat something.
Rika: Is there yogurt?
V: Yes.
(Rika leaves the chatroom)

She really is obsessed with yogurt…

Then V says: this is the path he’s chosen.

19:23 RFA in the Corner

Okay so — the universe made a weird choice with Zen, because the man is genuinely miraculous (remember his suspiciously fast recovery rate?). If you called or texted him earlier, you’d have learned that the hospital was so baffled by his wake-up that they asked him to be a test subject. He actually went — and got knocked out by the sleeping gas again — and then woke up FASTER!!! (He went for the experiment at 15:33 and was up again by 18:00…)

Anyway. Given how overwhelming the intelligence organization is, Jumin is apparently running nonstop —

Zen: But he ran to his company without even talking to me

The injustice XD

On Rika’s plan: Zen finds it absurd. Claiming to do what’s best for the twins, yet covering up someone else’s crimes and even kidnapping people? And what makes it more absurd is the wave of fake RFA smear campaigns flooding the internet. He’s worried his own career might tank too…

Sorry Zen, I know you’re stressed, but this screenshot is too good — and Glam Choi is back XD

Beyond Zen, Jaehee’s job might be affected, and Yoosung’s face has been exposed so he might not be able to go back to school.

Then Jumin shows up — presumably to warn Zen about something — and Zen immediately cuts him off: you’re going to tell me to stop talking about this online, aren’t you? But I CAN’T help it~~~ Anyway Jumin, how are you doing?

In a single night, Jumin has lost half his assets. Zen reassures him that things will be okay.

Jumin: I am a son of a corporate CEO. I have never experienced trouble with living.

…Sure. If you bring up Elizabeth the 3rd, Jumin says there are eyes on her. Zen wants to fight back too, but it’s genuinely too dangerous.

Jumin mainly just came in to remind everyone not to use the messenger, and then he’s gone. Zen goes to calm down and sends you a photo saying everything will be okay.

Passing along that face to everyone too (?)

The moment Zen logs off, 707 suddenly comes online — but only leaves ”.”, ”.”, ”.” and immediately goes offline.

Story Mode: 707

Back in V’s home. Saeyoung wakes up and you immediately check on him — to which Saeyoung: “Rika is behind you. She’s furious.” Rika warns you not to do anything suspicious. Just sit tight like a princess and wait for Saeran.

After issuing that warning, she leaves.

Saeyoung apologizes for dragging you into this and hopes Saeran can be happy.

And then — this is the important part. It turns out that before Vanderwood left, they gave Saeyoung some information: security credentials for the intelligence agency!!! (GJ Vanderwood!) Saeyoung suspects Vanderwood wanted him to hack in — and as a side benefit, help Vanderwood, who is now on the run.

His read on the situation: the intelligence agency is the real target, since they’re the ones propping up the Prime Minister and pumping out fake news.

And Vanderwood even pre-installed the hacking tools on Saeyoung’s phone! As soon as Saeyoung can free his hands, he’s going to hack the building’s security system so you can slip out in the chaos.

“Once you’re outside, immediately text Saeran telling him not to come for me. Get as far away as possible,” Saeyoung says. “Maybe I can still take them down.”

So this is your plan.

Wait, can you two be a little more careful?! Someone heard everything!

The one who overheard is V. He’s not on board with Saeyoung’s plan — too dangerous, could pull everyone down at once. “I will truly be your father now…” — that’s not exactly it, his actual words are:

V: Now I will truly be your father. … Could you please be grateful that the boundaries are standing?

Somehow that’s not better. Saeyoung, furious: “You’re both out of your minds.” This isn’t the life he fought for or the one he wanted to give Saeran.

Saeyoung: I never should have opened my heart for you. That was the biggest mistake in my life.

But the moment it’s out of his mouth, he regrets it. He immediately falls to his knees, begging — just let Saeran go, he’ll do whatever they want.

V still insists this is the only way to protect them both; they’ll be increasing Saeyoung’s medication before Saeran arrives.

As Saeyoung loses consciousness, he keeps calling out for Saeran to run, saying “our last hope is gone.”

21:02 Why We Need Saeran

V comes online and makes a direct appeal to Saeran. He says Saeyoung will always try to set Saeran free, but his actions might end up destroying everyone. At the same time, V knows Saeran will find some way to go after Saeyoung — so he’s hoping Saeran will come and talk Saeyoung out of his plan, convince him to stand down.

“Their fate is not something that can be changed.” With that, V logs off.

Story Mode

In Rika’s apartment, the Boss gets hold of Saeyoung’s phone and is furious to find what looks like agency security codes — but according to another agent, they’re fake. An enraged Boss orders a complete overhaul of their current security system. The agent warns that during the transition period, their systems will be highly vulnerable to attack; the Boss says it doesn’t matter, since 707 can’t do anything right now, and it should only take a few hours.

Meanwhile, at the hospital.

Apparently Jumin volunteered Zen as a test subject XD They used what they learned from him to figure out what neutralizes the sleeping gas, and after administering it — Jaehee wakes up.

Jumin: I know you just woke up, but there’s a lot to do.
Poor Jaehee T_T

(Also — based on the text messages, it looks like Saeran is getting serious! Boss, are you sure 707 is out of commission? No backup at all?)

23:13 Did RFA Give Up?

Zen has talked to Jumin, and because of the intelligence organization’s reach, they can’t discuss anything on this platform. He says they’ve decided to abandon the chatroom — and he adds: “there’s nothing else that RFA can do against such monsters…” Even though he feels betrayed by V and Rika, he understands it was for the twins’ sake and is starting to accept it. (Wait, did I stumble into a bad ending???)

Zen sounds helpless. The only thing he can do now is wait for the other members to wake up and support them.

Story Mode: Saeran

Ha… Zen had me completely fooled. He really is a good actor.

Turns out Vanderwood and Saeran have been working together all along! The “fake” security codes left on Saeyoung’s phone were bait — and they worked, forcing the intelligence agency to overhaul their security system, which gave Vanderwood and Saeran the opening they needed. Saeran finished the hack; Vanderwood: you’re even faster than 707!!!

Saeran’s done — now it’s all on Vanderwood. Let’s go!

After you close the window, Saeran calls you~~~

What a rollercoaster Day 2 was T_T Cheritz really knows how to write. Just when I thought things were hopeless, here comes the comeback — Vanderwood and Jumin both being absolute stars!

On to Day 3 — the tension is really building now.
