Mystic Messenger Ray After Ending Day 3 — Route Choice Recommendations
Here’s an online walkthrough I recommend. I hit the Bad Relationship Ending twice and I’m in deep mourning T_T
01:02 Rika Wants Saeran
Rika thinks RFA’s decision to abandon the chatroom is actually the right call. She still believes her method is the only way to save the twins. She continues to see herself as “twisted, tainted,” while the other members are “untainted, sane” — which is why they’ve chosen different paths.
She starts to say something about Saeyoung, then gets tired and logs off.
Story Mode: Jumin
Late at night, the Chairman comes to Jumin’s apartment, which is under unusually heavy security. The two of them talk through the C&R crisis — specifically its connection to Saeyoung’s later public statement.
The Chairman says he met with Saeyoung a few weeks ago and signed a contract, though to him it barely counted as an investment. Jumin finds it odd — why would Saeyoung do something like this, and why specifically go to the Chairman?
The Chairman says that at the time, Saeyoung wanted to thank Jumin but couldn’t figure out how — and since Jumin isn’t exactly a “good son,” Saeyoung figured he could step into that role XD
Jumin: Ah, typical of him. He had nothing to thank me for, and I have always been your good son.
The Chairman says he’s never felt so genuinely warm as a father before (Saeyoung really knows how to work people), so he just signed it. (Jumin, be careful — your dad is dangerously easy to charm.)
The point is: he knows that beneath Jumin’s composure, he’s burning from betrayal and the weight of responsibility — and he can say that because they’re family.
In front of his father, Jumin does let his emotions show…
Jumin opens up. He thought he was V’s closest friend, yet he knew so little about him. He doesn’t understand why V would make these choices, and he couldn’t protect everything he cared about.
Jumin: Why do I feel so powerless?
He always knew that getting close to people — having relationships — would bring complications. But he let them in anyway…
The Chairman reassures him: this will make you grow. Even if C&R truly falls, he won’t regret any of it.
Jumin thinks of Saeran — who lost everything and still came out strong. He feels like he himself can’t save either V or Saeyoung, but maybe Saeran can. He sees hope in Saeran.
Chairman: How interesting. You actually sound like a human.
06:40 A Ticket Unused
Saeran seems busy but in good spirits. Because the chatroom might be monitored, he won’t say much about the situation — but he promises he’ll come find you after sunrise.
He keeps expressing gratitude for the love and warmth he’s felt since meeting you. (If this weren’t an otome game, this would be a death flag.)
He sends two photos — plane tickets he bought earlier for the two of you to use together.
”I’ve already transferred them to Zen.”
If you ask whether he’ll be coming too —
He dodges the question, tells you to use the tickets with the RFA members, and logs off.
Story Mode: Saeran
This seems to be a dream sequence? The two of you in the dream are so sweet together.
Saeran: I can gladly give up my life… If only you can be happy.
08:51 Saeran Is Here
Saeran enters the hacked chatroom — he’s already near V’s place, waiting while security does a sweep. Rika mentions that because the agency’s protocol (the network thing mentioned earlier) just changed yesterday, they’re being especially thorough in their checks.
Since Saeran has arrived, they’ll likely start lowering Saeyoung’s dosage. Rika is desperate for Saeran to join them, anxious about any sudden changes in the plan (like RFA suddenly stirring again).
Talking about the Magenta period — that time was agonizing for Saeran, but it gave him strength. By contrast, Rika has zero desire to revisit that past. Saeran observes that she was deeply desperate then, trying to escape from something.
Saeran: Rika, I think the reason why you dreamed of such paradise is because you suffered in the past…
Rika refuses to confront her dark side (I realized I haven’t played Rika’s DLC yet — I’ll fill this in another time), and just tells Saeran to hurry up and come see her, then goes offline.
Saeran says: wherever he is, he can have freedom — the freedom to truly be himself, and the freedom to love you unconditionally. “I’m going to love myself well.”
“Will you hate Rika and V?” you ask.
Saeran: No. From now on, I don’t want to hate someone. I’ll consider them neither good nor bad…
Just people.
People with their own lives and feelings.
This part really got to me T_T I think this is genuinely what Cheritz is trying to say through these games. Everyone has their reasons. Everyone is just trying to survive.
Story Mode: Saeran
Saeran is searched three times and nothing suspicious is found. (Rika: I don’t believe it.) Once he’s inside, they say you’re free to leave — but first Rika and Saeran go to confirm the departure arrangements with security.
V goes to check on Saeyoung.
11:11 Rika’s Return
Rika has finished talking with security. Tomorrow the Prime Minister will come to check on the twins — he’s planning a return to politics and needs to make sure no one can derail him. You’ll have to wait until after he arrives tomorrow to leave with him, since security is too tight right now (still fallout from the system overhaul — evidently still unstable).
They’re getting ready to come back inside.
Story Mode: Saeran
…Because Saeran is immune to the drugs, Rika is worried he’ll bolt — so she handcuffs him…
Why do these people have so many handcuffs
But Rika isn’t planning to string things out with the Prime Minister. Once he sees the twins and lets his guard down, there’ll be a window to strike back. She assures the two of them this discomfort is only temporary; her plan will unfold soon and then they can have their happy ending.
Rika leaves to check on Saeyoung, and you wake Saeran up.
This whole situation is basically a repeat of his childhood — his mother treated him the same way. But he’s grown up. He knows how to face this, and he’s actually the one reassuring you!!!
Saeran says he can’t currently figure out how to get both of you out at the same time, but he can get you and Saeyoung out together. He starts laying out the whole plan.
Jumin had Zen pretend RFA had gone quiet; his resignation was cover for him to pull together his own intelligence team. Vanderwood contacted Saeran while on the run, and the two of them joined forces — successfully breaking through the agency’s security.
Saeran: Tonight around 11:00, there’ll be a gap in the security system. In the chaos, you and Saeyoung can slip out — you’ll have about an hour window. Vanderwood will meet you at the rendezvous point. I’ll stay here and keep Rika and V distracted. Once Saeyoung escapes and completes the hacking task I’ve left him, he’ll be free.
“Once the intelligence agency loses its claws, my father loses his power too.”
He tells you to remind Saeyoung to take down the agency as fast as possible — but even if he pulls it off, he might not be able to save Saeran.
Saeran: And please tell him to be free from trouble called me… Be happy.
Saeran kisses you (I got goosebumps — Cheritz is truly cruel T_T)
Saeran: Please feel how warm my body is. Feel my heart. Don’t let the pain take you.
I love you. Whether I can see you or not, I’ll never stop loving you.
12:48 Weight of the Past
Rika and V are outside discussing the next steps; Saeran joins the chatroom. Rika keeps saying this is the best possible path forward, and she also acknowledges that after everything that happened in Magenta, being around her must be incredibly hard for Saeran.
Saeran says it’s not. He’s let it all go. In Magenta, he was blinded by his own helplessness — until he met you. He knows he was happy after leaving Rika, but he never stopped to think about how Rika felt being left behind. So now he can understand her.
Seeing Saeran so changed unsettles Rika. “Can’t you just go back to how you were as a child?” she asks. “When you didn’t know anything, but we were all so happy.”
Saeran says: no matter what changes on the outside, his core beliefs won’t change.
Rika: “Okay. We’ll talk more later.” And she’s gone.
Story Mode: V
V and Rika are outside. The earlier conversation has left Rika shaken — she doesn’t want to be comforted, she just wants to start over. V tells her not to overthink it and to focus on the future.
Rika feels a little better and runs off to buy fruit.
V: If you admit that you are sorry… You will have to admit that you gave them pain.
Perfectly put.
14:07 It Will Hurt, But We Will Be Happy
Even though they could just talk in person, Saeran goes back to the secure chatroom to walk through tonight’s plan one more time. He knows he won’t have a way to escape himself; he asks you to pass the mission to Saeyoung — destroy the intelligence agency — and to tell Saeyoung to live well.
Then the two of you try to make the most of the time you have left.
Story Mode: Saeran
When Rika comes back, she checks that all three of them are still there — then goes straight to rest without a word to anyone. She clearly isn’t doing well.
V thanks Saeran for being so kind to Rika, but asks him not to “be himself” — the situation isn’t what Rika expected, and if he keeps acting this way, something “unpredictable” might happen. Could he just pretend for a while?
But Saeran refuses. “Nothing can stop freedom.”
V sighs, worried this path could lead somewhere uncontrollable, and says he’ll go find another way to persuade Saeran.
Meanwhile — Yoosung is lying in Zen’s lap and still crying.
This image is a little cute XD
Apparently Yoosung was unconscious longer than everyone else, so he missed the meeting. He demanded Zen show him every single recording, then couldn’t stop crying T_T
He’s terrified that when the plan ends, Saeran will be killed by the Prime Minister, and he weeps that if Jumin hasn’t thought of another way, everything is over T_T
Zen: Hey, I have a brain too, you know!
After that, Yoosung calls you. He talks about how much this hurts, how much he admires Saeran’s love. And I have to say — Cheritz really is something else. Look at this:
Everything Yoosung says in this call maps perfectly back to his own route.
What Yoosung admires in Saeran — the unconditional, sacrificial love — is exactly what Yoosung himself embodied in his own route. Hearing it from Yoosung specifically hits different. That parallel is incredible writing.
And after this call, there’s a text from V where he mentions watching a caterpillar build a cocoon in the garden — which maps perfectly onto how he and Rika view the twins. This is exactly why I love Cheritz’s writing so much.
If you call Zen, he also talks about human nature, which I also adore. Cheritz, please keep making games this good T_T
16:25 I’ll Have None of This
Rika, who went to rest, didn’t sleep well at all. Ever since seeing Saeran, she feels like he isn’t the Saeran she needed — he’s changed too much because of you.
“We spent so much more time together, and so much longer — so why did he change because of you? Why did he leave me behind?” Rika says, voice cracking.
Rika: I’ll have none of this.
And she’s gone.
Story Mode: Saeran
The two of you are together, and suddenly Saeran senses something — he tells you to quickly go take a walk outside.
The culprit is a furious Rika. She’s enraged that Saeran could just turn away from her like that and walk into the light — after all the time they spent together. Saeran can see how much pain she’s in and asks if she’s okay.
Smack.
Saeran hits the ground.
“I want Ray,” Rika says, furious. “I want the boy who needed me."
"But even Ray has changed,” Saeran says. “You wouldn’t like him now either.”
Rika says she doesn’t need Saeran anymore — her dream has shattered. “Don’t pretend you understand me. You hate me inside. You hypocrite.”
“I do feel the hatred,” Saeran admits. “But what I feel doesn’t have to define what I do.”
He knows these dark feelings. But he’d rather spend his time on warmer ones.
He’s been treated like an object — he knows what that kind of pain feels like; he even tried to inflict it on others to escape his own.
”Everything you’ve felt, I’ve felt too. But I chose to end that cycle.”
Rika says: then I’ll make you suffer even more, and eventually you will hate me.
Saeran: You’ll make yourself the greatest victim of your torture.
If I am to choose the very last thing to do before death, I’ll choose understanding over hating.
Rika starts crying. “I really don’t want to repeat the same mistakes. I wish someone would tell me what to do. There’s still a child inside me who craves love, but I’m not a child anymore.” She realizes the root of all this is her orphaned past — the terror of being rejected and abandoned, so she controlled others before they could.
Saeran: Can I ask you something? I want ice cream.
WHY DID IT CUT OFF HERE???
17:55 I Promise You Will Be Happy
First — Jaehee’s status update is way too good and I have to share it. You can practically feel her despair XD
Back to the story. It turns out Rika actually went and got ice cream… and came back with green melon flavor.
Saeran: I wanted orange.
Rika: They were out…
Saeran: :’( So sad.
Saeran: What about strawberry, then? I’ll share with her.
Rika: Strawberry? Let me check.
Saeran: Please… strawberry…
Saeran: Please… strawberry…
Rika: Oh! They have it!
Saeran: Thank God!
That exchange is so chaotic that for a moment I genuinely thought I’d fallen into a bad ending (save your game, everyone).
Saeran asks her to also grab a Ph.D. Pepper and a SEVENSTAR DRINK — though the latter is sold out.
Anyway — Rika thanks Saeran (and you) sincerely. She wants to become someone that Saeran can smile gently at. She wants to change, slowly. Then she goes to pay.
The moment she’s gone, Saeyoung switches over to the secure channel. (Saeran: Tada~~~)
Now everyone in RFA can see this chatroom, but Saeran doesn’t care anymore — he’s going to say what he wants to say.
“I hope that when you look up at clouds in the sky, you’ll think of me,” Saeran says. When he was locked up as a kid, he’d pass the time watching clouds. “I’ll always be praying for your happiness. I promise you’ll be okay.”
He speaks for both Ray and Saeran as he thanks you — for never giving up on them, for making them happy.
V arrives, and they log off.
Story Mode: V
Out of nowhere — V releases Saeran from the handcuffs, because Rika asked him to.
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll run?” Saeran asks. V says the outside is heavily guarded, and “I think Rika trusts you.” V sighs, says nothing more.
V will call later, saying he’s grateful to Saeran for helping Rika find the courage to face her guilt. Of course he’s also nervous that such fast change could have explosive consequences — but he feels this is his last chance.
19:09 Rika Is Changing
Rika does seem calmer. She apologizes to you and mentions she’d even considered trying to convince the intelligence organization to let her stay. “I wanted you to be my role model.” But in the end she didn’t go through with it. “This is the twins’ fate, but it isn’t yours.” She hopes she and you can keep talking in the chatroom someday.
V enters the chatroom. “I only got one soda-flavored ice cream… but Saeran had three…” V says.
He jokes that he’s worried Rika might have a crush on Saeran — would she start a “Purple Eye” organization someday or something?
Rika denies it. V says he’s kidding — he just has never seen Rika this calm, this safe.
”Maybe it was Saeran’s kind words that changed you,” V says. “Back in the old days I even had to sacrifice my eyes to get through to you…”
But this was V and Saeran’s combined effort — Rika acknowledges that V helped her find an emotional outlet, while Saeran treated her with compassion. She promises to take good care of both brothers. Though it seems like there are things she still can’t say to them.
They thank you for finding them and helping them change. “A few weeks ago you were my enemy, and now I actually quite like you,” Rika says.
Then V announces: once everything settles down, he’s finally getting eye surgery. He kept his eye injury as a symbol of his guilt toward Rika — but now there’s no reason to keep hurting. Rika immediately says, “I should have done something sooner” — and rushes off to book the surgery, logging off instantly.
V asks: has Rika’s darkness really gone?
Answer based on your own feelings.
But V says he wants to tell Saeran the thing Rika has been hiding — and with you there, he trusts Saeran won’t break.
Story Mode: Saeran
V takes Saeran outside, away from Rika’s hearing.
“Do you think Rika has really changed?” V asks. Saeran thinks so, but he can’t make sense of V’s motivations — betraying RFA, aiding criminals, all to avoid repeating his father’s coldness. Is that really it?
V says he was confused too. But maybe Rika just needed someone to watch over her.
V mentions he heard what Saeran said to Rika:
If I am to choose the very last thing to do before death, I’ll choose understanding over hating.
“When you truly know everything she’s done — can you really forgive her?” V asks. “And can you forgive me?”
Saeran says: only one person could change his heart on that.
And so — V tells him the truth about how Saeran’s mother died.
(And then it just… ends.)
21:39 The Weight of Truth
Rika notices V and Saeran have been gone for a long time. While waiting for them to return, she sincerely wishes you and Saeran a good night together.
V joins the chatroom and apologizes to Rika, but says he’s already told Saeran everything.
The official records say the twins’ mother died by suicide — but in reality, she and Rika had a small conflict, and Rika accidentally…
“Why did you have to say it now?” Rika asks. “Unless the twins know everything about you, you’ll keep being a fraud. You’re just pretending to be good,” V replies. After learning the truth, Saeran was silent for a long time.
“I thought you were on my side,” Rika says.
V says he wants to believe she can get better, even with such a heavy past. “But I wasn’t ready. I’m so scared,” Rika responds. She’s afraid Saeran will hate her.
“But he had to know,” V says. He asks you to go talk to Saeran, and reassures Rika that he’s already explained the details carefully to Saeran — “she attacked first, and what you did was in self-defense.”
At that moment, V receives a message from Saeran. He’s asking both of them to come to the lakeside spot where you can see the moonlit water — he has something to say to them. The two of them leave the chatroom.
The chatroom shifts to secure mode. Saeran drops a map and asks you to come find him there.
Story Mode: Saeran
The moon is beautiful. This might be the last time they see each other. Saeran feels that knowing is better than not knowing. He’s confident the plan will succeed. “Even if I can’t escape my fate, I can at least decide who I am. I can finally know everything about myself.”
Saeran: Look at me. Right now I am not a victim of a terrible environment. I’m Saeran Choi, the one you chose to love.
He’s even a little at peace — a little relieved. He gets to sacrifice himself for the people he loves.
After tonight, forget me. Forget me and live well. Be happy. Go back to your everyday life as if none of this happened.
I hope you’ll take with you the thing I always wanted — an ordinary life.
I will love you forever.
……I’m wrecked T_T
If you call Saeran after this, the voicemail alone will destroy you…
23:00 Rescue Plan
Everyone is in the chatroom. Vanderwood is with you and Saeyoung (still unconscious). The room is empty because Saeran has taken Rika and V outside. Vanderwood is ready to move and goes offline first.
They need about 82 minutes of distraction, so you and Saeyoung should rendezvous with the others in approximately 2 hours and 14 minutes; the antidote will take effect in roughly 3–4 hours. Jumin reminds Jaehee to prepare the press conference; both Zen and Yoosung hesitate a bit, but Jumin holds firm — everyone will find out what it’s for once you and Saeyoung are safely back.
Everyone desperately hopes you and Saeyoung make it home.
Story Mode: Saeran
Saeran only gave V and Rika vague hints about the location (your map was precise), so it took them a little while to find him.
When Saeran’s mother died, she never got a funeral — because they didn’t want evidence to surface, they even burned the house down. “I was so dangerous, so unpredictable — but V accepted me unconditionally.” She never imagined Saeran would change like this, come back to find her, treat her with such warmth.
Rika apologizes to Saeran. Saeran says: “Are you sure you’ve told me everything? Good. My turn.”
This image is so beautiful T_T
Saeran knew his mother was terrible, but he never thought she’d been killed. After she was gone, his world fell apart, and he never got to grieve — it’s strange to think that he’d remember her today.
Rika keeps apologizing, over and over, for all the pain she’s caused.
Saeran says: everything he said this morning is still true. He expects his father will arrive tomorrow and he’ll be killed. He has no time for the negative feelings; he wants to think about the joyful things.
So he forgives Rika. Forgives everything she’s done. Forgives everyone who has ever hurt him.
Saeran: I was chosen. I was chosen for her love… Which is why I will treasure my time.
“I should have said I love her one last time — should have cherished every moment together,” Saeran says through tears. “But my life has been full. I’m grateful for every chance that life gave me.”
Rika and V can tell something is off in the way he’s speaking, and they start pressing him.
“Saeyoung and her have already left. You can’t catch them anymore.” Saeran reveals his plan. “I came here to save them and to die.” He thanks Rika for showing him her true self.
“It’s all my fault,” Rika sobs. “It started the day I killed their mother…” She cries her way out the door. Saeran calls after V to go follow her.
“Please be okay,” Saeran says, looking up at the stars.
So many feelings T_T I’m speechless T_T
Bracing myself for tomorrow’s terrifying timeline — hoping so hard I make it to the Good Ending T_T
Very curious about what Jumin is going to do. Please don’t tell me he’s running for president (?)
