Ending the final episode with Saeran’s favorite lily of the valley…

Mystic Messenger Ray After Ending Day 4 – Route Choice Guide

12/27 Thanks to the walkthrough, I finally made it to the ending T_T

12/24 I started from Day 2 again and got BRE again… so I had to go back to Day 1 and follow the walkthrough T_T

12/22 Okay so I got the BRE… 02:16 — if after saving you find the Story Mode is labeled “Savior,” you’ve entered BRE… and that BRE is absolutely horrifying. And I didn’t save properly; the most critical save point is probably around Day 2 at 17:00 in the afternoon… so I’m going to take a two-day break before trying again. Let me just calm down for a bit T_T

Here’s an online walkthrough so you don’t have to suffer as much…

02:16 Escape – Success!

Vanderwood goes in and gets the MC and Saeyoung out. The good news is that the agency didn’t notice they were gone at all — but the tense part is that they have no information about what’s happening on the other side.

Story Mode: Jumin

If you got BRE, this Story Mode will be labeled “Savior.” If it shows Jumin, you’ve cleared the checkpoint successfully.

Due to limited manpower and the Prime Minister’s oppressive influence, Jumin doesn’t have the right people available to approach where Saeran is being held.

That’s when the mysterious Mr. Kim — Jumin’s trusted driver — steps up! He volunteers with a new possible approach to get there: Jumin’s helicopter!!!
Remarkably, the plan is accepted. Jumin entrusts Mr. Kim with taking the MC there, and asks the accompanying staff to document everything on camera.

The only condition: Mr. Kim and the MC’s mission must remain a secret from the other RFA members. If Saeyoung found out, he wouldn’t be able to focus on what he needs to do. Jumin also asks the MC to be careful and not get taken hostage again.

Meanwhile, over with Yoosung and Zen — with nearly everyone’s opinion turning against the RFA — Yoosung finds someone influential on Metube who believes in them and has been raising questions about the current situation.
He’s moved by this, and also mentions that Jumin has changed a lot, become more emotionally open. Who knows how things will unfold from here.

5:55 Vanderwood and Zen’s Argument

Vanderwood restores the chatroom, yay~~~
He calls Zen “Actor” and Yoosung “Little guy”; Zen calls him “Ex agent.”

Saeyoung woke up and immediately started working like crazy. The agency still hasn’t made any moves — Vanderwood suspects the couple didn’t say anything, which means Saeran should be safe for now, at least until the Prime Minister arrives.

Vanderwood even proposes a whole series of “rescue plans” (?):

1. Knock out the agents nearby in the morning and crash their systems;
2. The agency will then go all-out trying to restore their systems, leaving them no time to do what the Prime Minister wants;
3. The Prime Minister will then forget everything about Saeran Choi and inexplicably flee;
4. That crazy couple will run too, and Saeran Choi will miraculously survive.

Uh??? This plan is completely unworkable lol

Anyway, Vanderwood hasn’t heard anything about Saeran and figures he isn’t doing great.

Zen has always been skeptical of Vanderwood (he keeps feeling like “once a traitor, always a traitor”) and tells him to stop talking nonsense and go help Saeyoung instead.

Vanderwood: There you go nagging again… my ears were bleeding yesterday… fine, I’m out…
Zen: Get out! Right now!

Okay, tempers are running hot T_T

Story Mode: Jumin

I love this segment a lot. Oh, but remember to save before entering — there’s a branch here.

Jumin comes to pray with Jaehee: please let Saeran come back safely. May this family be reunited and loved.

It turns out Mr. Kim has already reported back that they’re ready. The only thing Jumin can do now is pray — which naturally shocks Jaehee: “You’ve become softer.”

Jumin: …I once imagined what it would be like if I lost C&R and everything disappeared. Elizabeth the 3rd, my wealth, my status, my family… everything I had.
I thought I might feel anxious, tormented — but surprisingly, my heart was unusually calm.

Then he shares his philosophy on life and death.
People come into this world empty-handed, and leave the same way. Everything in between is like a grand theatrical performance. Hierarchy, right and wrong, judgment and praise… no one escapes these troubles; but death treats everyone equally.
Because he was forced to confront this truth, he used to feel tortured by it — his existence, his honor, his knowledge all seemed meaningless. But he learned something from the MC and Saeran. He hopes he can find that kind of happiness in the rest of his life too. He’s starting to understand his father, and starting to regret how unfamiliar he’s been with “love.”

“So the only act of love I can practice right now is to help him with everything I have, including this prayer.” Jumin sincerely prays that God will give Saeran a little more time before death comes for him.

Honestly this part is really moving. I feel like it connects to Jumin’s own route too. Jumin has always watched his father chase love while neglecting family, and deep down resented it. His father (Chairman Han) appeared a few times in this After Ending talking about his own view of love — I thought it felt a bit excessive at first, but now I see it was laying the groundwork for exactly this. Jumin has really grown.

In his own route, he learned the difference between love and possession. In this route, he comes to understand the meaning “love” plays in life itself.

Zen will call later — he had another prophetic dream. Scary!

8:24 Saeyoung Is Back

Saeyoung logs in briefly while working hard. He’s doing everything he can to make sure Saeran’s sacrifice won’t be in vain.

“Because we’re twins, I can feel that Saeran is still safe right now,” Saeyoung says.

You can ask Saeyoung to telepathically check in on Saeran XD which gives you this adorable exchange:

Ugh, I was genuinely laughing through this whole thing XDDD

Story Mode

The camera cuts to Rika’s apartment, where the Boss and the Prime Minister think their evil plan is almost complete (I keep imagining them doing a cartoon villain laugh). The Prime Minister also reminds the Boss not to let anyone get away with the genetic test results.

Suddenly, an agent rushes in looking panicked — the entire system has crashed, and they’ve lost track of 707.

The Boss is horrified. The Prime Minister keeps asking what’s happening and can’t get a straight answer. Everything is falling into chaos.

Meanwhile, with Saeyoung and Vanderwood. Vanderwood is staring at his screen in disbelief: “You managed to crash the entire system in just a few hours!?” It turns out Saeyoung only crashed part of it XD

But Saeyoung didn’t immediately go destroy the whole system and bring down the organization — instead, he tried to scatter the agents first, because he wants to use the opening to rescue Saeran. This makes Vanderwood furious: if you don’t bring down the organization, none of this means anything. “Your brother is going to be tagged with Death!” Then Saeyoung snaps: “Say his name and death in the same sentence again. I dare you.”

Mr. Kim and the MC arrive, but run into V. V asks the MC to come with him, saying it’s absolutely not a trap.

Please just go with him~~~

10:00 The Last Discussion

Yoosung is online. He knows about their plan but knows he can’t push further. So he circles back to his usual topic: is there any chance I’ll ever meet someone I can love wholeheartedly~~~
It’s because his feelings for Rika ended up hurting him, and he wants to know if “eternal love without pain” can actually exist.

Then our Jumin joins, and immediately picks up on Yoosung’s thread: “Let me ask you — could you create a masterpiece in life without death as its endpoint?”
Jaehee logs in just in time to catch this super deep conversation and adds her own: “Would a vacation be enjoyable if there were no work?” Poor Jaehee, she really needs a day off.

Zen logs in: do I also need to add something? XDDD
And so he does: “Can a promising newcomer shine without a dark past?”

Yoosung: Okay okay, I get it.
And then uses Saeran as an example of why his life can shine so brightly.
He still insists though: as long as you find your soulmate, “eternal love without pain” is totally achievable~~~

But actually getting there is still incredibly hard.

Jumin: We all choose different values in life. And those values are relative.
It is as if we are in an endless repetition of a game, while experiencing the distance and difference between our choices in life.

Is this breaking the fourth wall? XD

And Jaehee wraps it up — though maybe through their words, Cheritz is saying: our choices shape who we become, and they affect the people around us too (the choices in this After Ending were way too hard T_T).

Alright, then Jaehee and Jumin head off to prep for the press conference.
Looks like Jumin is really going into politics? XD

And then the two lonely guys team up to go find something to eat lol.

MC: I hope Saeran can come eat with us soon.
Yoosung: He likes cooking — I hope he’ll share one of his recipes with me someday.
Zen: Maybe one day he’ll take your spot lmao
Yoosung: No one can replace my adorableness _____/

Story Mode: Saeran

Rika thanks the MC for being by Saeran’s side, by RFA’s side, and by her side all along.
(In the BRE ending, Rika believed the MC abandoned Saeran — so she made sure he’d never leave…ever…)

She finally admits to her dark past.
She’s been hurting people all along to protect herself. She thanks the MC for finding her, caring for her, giving her hope, giving her a chance. She’s thought this way all along. She’s always remembered everything the MC said to her. She genuinely loves the MC, loves everyone in RFA, and apologizes for everything she’s done.

If you choose to hug Rika, perhaps because she’s finally facing herself honestly, she breaks down in the MC’s arms. (CG)
If you choose to keep listening, Rika recovers quickly. (No CG)

Once she’s calmed down a bit, Rika takes the MC to find Saeran.

The scene shifts to Zen’s place, where the TV is playing a news report saying Jumin is running for office — he intends to make politics more transparent using big data and statistical analysis. (Zen: I thought he was running for president; Yoosung: He might actually become president one day.)

But then the anchor immediately brings up the silver spoon criticism — and then plays a clip of Jumin never having drunk regular instant coffee XDDDDDDD
And his company after leaving C&R is called “Queen Elizabeth” XDDDDD

The anchor continues: Jaehee will serve as the overall campaign manager, and musical theater actor Zen will join the advertising team…
Zen: WHY???
And Yoosung is the university student representative…
Yoosung: Did I just become a representative?!

Jumin: The RFA is now an inseparable part of me.
Hearing this, both of them immediately rush off to find him.

In another scene: Saeran stirs awake with a yawn, surprised to find himself still alive, and that the guards around him are gone too. But then an enraged Prime Minister appears: “I knew I couldn’t trust that crazy couple!” He orders his bodyguard to search Saeran for listening devices.

Prime Minister: You’ve been weak since birth. Saeyoung at least looks like me, but you’re just a pathetic, useless weakling. He grabs Saeran by the hair and screams at him: You’re the one who messed up the agency, aren’t you? You look more like your mother. Why do you both keep ruining my career? I’m the one who’s supposed to be at the top! You only exist in this world because I fathered you? I should have killed you a long time ago.

Even with his hair being yanked, Saeran stays pretty calm. “I know you didn’t want to have me, but I’m still pretty glad to be alive.”

With his hope of rising to power now crashed by the twins, the Prime Minister is furious. He punches Saeran and demands he hand over Saeyoung so he can die a little more painlessly.

“You’re just like my mom. When you can’t get what you want, you use violence.” Saeran says coldly. This only enrages the Prime Minister further, screaming at Saeran to just die.
An aide tells him to calm down or he’ll kill Saeran.
Remembering that Saeran still has practical value, he pulls back.

“Feel a little better?” Saeran asks suddenly. “I never wanted to block your path. Even so, I forgive you. I hope someday you’ll be able to love yourself.” After saying this, Saeran collapses — but he’s calling out the MC’s name, reliving every moment they shared together, and saying goodbye.

And then it splits into the Normal Ending and Good Ending.

Normal Ending – The Alternative End

If you choose Don’t go save Saeran, this is where you end up.

Rika and the others don’t find Saeran at the place they saw him yesterday, and worry something happened to him. The others continue searching while Mr. Kim goes to report back to Jumin.

At the lakeside, the Prime Minister is about to take Saeran away. He’ll keep him alive until he finds out where Saeyoung is.
The MC desperately wants to rush out to save him, but Mr. Kim holds her back. She turns to Rika and V, asking them to save Saeran. Rika agrees, tells V to contact the investigation team, and asks the MC to follow her — she has one last thing she wants to say to Saeran.

Rika steps forward and tells the Prime Minister their deal is cancelled. He says he’d originally planned to keep both of them to help with the election, but has decided not to spare them anymore — and that he also intends to bring RFA and Jumin under his control.

“Greed.” Rika’s word visibly startles him. “Controlling others. Taking whatever you want. That is greed. It’s time to end all of this.” She tells the Prime Minister that even if he climbs to the very top, he’ll never understand true love, and will always be alone.

The Prime Minister thought Rika was just like him — so why is she suddenly talking about “love”?
She says she changed. She knows what real love is. Love is what makes Saeran willing to protect others with his life: “It’s truly a miracle that someone like Saeran came from you.” She decides to expose everything she’s done and everything she knows, and will do everything she can to protect them from further harassment.

The Prime Minister tries to negotiate a new deal with Rika. V steps in, saying the investigation team is on their way — there’s no point struggling. The Prime Minister is shocked, saying that means they’re also in trouble, and orders his bodyguard to shoot them all and destroy the evidence — but the bodyguard hesitates. The Prime Minister is about to do it himself when suddenly the screen goes dark…

(I honestly have no idea what happened to the Prime Minister.)

Mr. Kim tells the MC to leave quickly. Rika also tells the MC to hurry and leave with Saeran, and thanks her deeply for giving her a chance. V thanks the MC for joining RFA. They decide to stay and face everything themselves.

Rika says to the MC:

At last. No more acting. And no more pain. Now it’s time for me to step down from the so-called paradise…
And I’ll be where I should be, to pay for what I should.
But I’ll never forget about you, (MC’s name)… You gave a chance for someone like me.
I hope eternal love will find them…

(Six months later)

In the chatroom — turns out Jumin didn’t get elected XD Besides possibly being too young, he couldn’t name a single brand of instant noodles when asked XDDDDDD

Well, at least Queen Elizabeth has returned to C&R, his position and reputation are restored, and the company is back to its former glory. Everyone roasts him again XD

Jumin: Maybe I’d have a better shot at winning after I’ve experienced living in a run-down house? Zen, would you let me stay with you? We could sign a lease.
Zen: Stay away from my house…

Meanwhile, the Choi brothers became incredibly famous, and the agency was completely dismantled (though Saeyoung barely slept for three months XD). None of this was made public — it was all done in secret. But at least the twins now have their true freedom.

They also uncovered a long string of crimes committed by the Prime Minister — he’ll likely be imprisoned for life. Rika will be locked up for a while too; V will probably be released after the next hearing. Vanderwood is now a free man and has given himself a long vacation. The MC and the twins are rarely online.

“Can we maybe throw our own party?” The moment Jaehee says it she regrets it, because Jumin immediately tries to appoint her as the new coordinator, and she instantly goes offline XDDDD

Outside the chatroom. The MC and Saeran are working in a greenhouse full of flowers. Saeran is happy to be living such an ordinary life.

Saeran: I want to make a happy family… With you.

Wait — a proposal?! But don’t stand on a ladder while you’re doing it!
Thankfully the MC reminds him, and he climbs down (?).

After the proposal, the MC has a few different responses to choose from, but of course they’re all some version of yes XD. Then the Normal Ending screen plays!

Good Ending – The Final Episode

Choose Go Save Saeran and you’ll end up here.

From Saeran’s perspective (a dream? Telepathy?), he tells the MC that it’s all a lie — he wants to be with her forever.

This “telepathy” (?) makes their group hurry toward Saeran. They spot the Prime Minister and his entourage seemingly about to drug Saeran. The MC ignores V and Mr. Kim’s attempts to stop her and rushes over.

The MC’s sudden appearance startles the Prime Minister. Saeran lies with his head on the MC’s lap, saying she’s so stupid for coming to find him — “Now I can’t die, because of you.”

The Prime Minister tells his people to take photos quickly, trying to pin Saeran’s injuries or being drugged on the MC, and even to use the photos to blackmail Saeyoung. He’s ready to clean up the people standing in his way.

The MC fearlessly tries to reason with (?) the Prime Minister. From this scene you can get a rough understanding of what twisted the Prime Minister the way he is.

Saeran looks like he’s in bad shape, but he still stands up and embraces his father: “You’ve never met anyone who truly understood you, have you? You’ve walked this road all alone — that must have been exhausting.” After saying this, Saeran collapses and tells the MC: “Thank you. Because of you, I got to learn my father’s story.”

In the chatroom, Jumin hears Mr. Kim’s report: Rika and V are cooperating fully with the investigation team, Saeran is seriously injured and on his way to the hospital, the Prime Minister has fled, and the MC is safely back.

The scene shifts: Saeyoung is calling Saeran’s name at his hospital bedside. Meanwhile, the news reports that it’s been three days since Jumin announced his candidacy — and contrary to the negative media predictions, he’s actually gained quite a few supporters. The “clarified” video Saeyoung released, along with all the negative coverage about RFA, has been confirmed as fake. The investigation into the Prime Minister is ongoing.

Saeyoung has already taken care of things on the agency’s end, but since the Prime Minister is still missing, they need to watch out for him showing up looking for Saeran. Saeran didn’t take any fatal injuries and should wake up soon. Saeyoung: “My list of things I want to say to Saeran keeps getting longer.”

Vanderwood suddenly shows up, asking why Saeyoung isn’t picking up his phone. Saeyoung: I escaped the agency but I still can’t escape you!
Vanderwood feels unappreciated — apparently he found a location where the Prime Minister might be hiding, and it’s close by. They rush out to deal with it.

The moment they leave, Saeran starts talking: “I have something to tell you.” It turns out the Prime Minister came to see him last night, saying he was prepared to turn himself in, but wanted to see the MC one more time. And then… the Prime Minister is right there in the room!!!

When he realized everything he’d built was gone, he found that what the MC said reflected how deeply she understood him. He felt something he had never felt before.

I couldn’t find a way to live a beautiful life… But maybe you two…

He thanks both of them for what they said to him. Changing someone is hard, but the two of them really changed him. He decides to turn himself in. And then he leaves.

The last knot in Saeran’s heart has finally loosened. He feels truly free.

(Six months later)

Jumin won XDDDD He became the youngest politician in the country and took the whole nation by storm XD
Of course the twins are still the most popular figures; Zen’s talent has finally been recognized and he’s been signed by a major agency (there’s even a poster for “Wolves” running on Broadway XD).

And Yoosung! He’s going to France to become a pastry chef!!! (Was that set up during a past holiday event?!)
Jaehee continues as Jumin’s assistant, but will now be working for the public sector XD.

Saeyoung brought down the agency, the Prime Minister and Rika are on trial, the brothers reunited, Saeran and his love interest found their way back to each other, V will be released after the remaining hearings. Saeyoung spends a lot of time fishing now, Vanderwood has gone back to his hometown, and the couple lives happily ever after.

Everyone notices hardly anyone logs into the messenger anymore or manages it — it’s hard to imagine they once had to keep it so secret XD.

Yoosung: And this messenger got us tangled up in a cult, a government scandal, a hack…

to others, this is a really mystic messenger lol

Saeyoung smiles reading everyone’s chats on the messenger — turns out the two brothers and the MC are enjoying their happy time together. Saeyoung says this all feels like a dream, and Saeran says: it’s all real.

The two brothers scramble to thank the MC first XD And then the GE screen plays.

It was a long road getting here — for the brothers, and for us too.

Honestly, the NE has a more settled romantic life for the two of them, but it doesn’t fully resolve things with the Prime Minister, so there’s still a piece of unfinished business in Saeran’s heart. Seeing the brothers’ happiness in the GE really made me genuinely happy for them.

In this ending, everyone has a new direction and goal in life. It’s maybe truly the best possible ending. And that last chatroom line about “fewer and fewer people logging in” — I think that was Cheritz saying goodbye to us too.

After reaching GE, you’ll get a text from Yoosung:

I was reading our past logs,
and i realized we’ve known you for quite long.
Youve gone to save saeran, right?
I wanted to tell you this –
you are the best gift RFA has ever had.
We are right here. We’ll be waiting for you.

Even if the game rarely gets updates anymore, as long as we log in, they’ll always be there waiting for us :)

Thank you, Cheritz.
I’m genuinely in awe of your writing — every route actually explores some really deep questions. They put so much care into untangling the various difficulties and dimensions of life people face, and they’ve worked hard to help the public understand the causes of mental illness and how to approach it.
This Ray After Story was truly remarkable. Especially Jumin’s discussion on life and death — that was just extraordinary.

Thank you, everyone in RFA.
I met you when I had no idea where my life was going, and somehow felt cared for. I truly thought of you as friends, and came to feel like I could be loved by you at any moment :)

I don’t think I’ll ever delete this game (until the day it can no longer be downloaded XDD).
Sometimes I wish I could wipe my memory and experience the joy of playing it again fresh.
There are still plenty of endings I’m too scared to try, but I’ll probably keep logging in often. Thank you for always reminding me to eat and to sleep early (even though you’re all up at 3am yourselves).

Can’t wait to see you all again :)
