Following the origins of the Devotion ARG, this article will introduce the physical aspect of the ARG activity – the Luxin Winter Thanksgiving Fellowship.
This article continues from finding Luxin’s physical meeting location, where players actually went to a café in Taipei’s Guting area to participate in the event.
During the event, they not only joined the Luxin group but also obtained a mysterious 3.5-inch floppy disk.
Red Candle’s ARG had even more participants this time, with players constantly solving puzzles together on Discord and PTT’s C_Chat board.

Only Plain Water Can Cleanse My Sins

On January 19, 2019, the Luxin Winter Thanksgiving Fellowship was held at a café near Guting Station.
Even before the event started, the outside was packed with expectant players. I was the second person to enter the café and obtain items.
When we entered the café and said to the staff:

“Only plain water can cleanse my sins.”

We received a small card and a bottle of Luxin water (From Discord id: 摸摸摸摸摸).

There was also stalker information on site (From Discord id: HCJ):

“Hi, Wenxin senpai!”

Next to the café, there was a message board filled with small cards from the thanksgiving fellowship (From Ptt id: Litan).

Two circled cards read respectively:

“That inexplicable stalker appeared again. He dropped something, I’m keeping it for now -Wenxin”

“I want to confess to Wenxin sis. Her recently cut short hair matches her red hat so well!! So cute!!”

The two cards pieced together:

• Wenxin senpai has short hair and wears a red hat
• Wenxin senpai has something the stalker dropped

We found Wenxin senpai wearing a red hat at the outdoor seating before entering the café. We asked:
“Can we get the thing the stalker dropped from you?”
Wenxin senpai: “That’s inconvenient, because it’s something from within the club. But if you join the club, I could consider giving it to you. There happens to be an event today, you can join the club.”

Walking out of the store, we found Luxin seniors in yellow clothing who asked us to form groups of nine people in multiples of “three.” Only those holding small cards could participate. After gathering nine people, we went to Guling Street Park.

Joining Luxin

After arriving at the park, they drew a mark on our hands (similar to the twin fish on the original Guanyin lamp).

The seniors taught us hand gestures, breathing techniques, and had us hold a yellow sin-cleansing paper (?) to wash in water. It read (only the fish representing light and joy is inverted):

<Outer circle> Welcome Cigu Bodhisattva ‧ Ferry the world with spiritual manifestation in all directions x4 <Inner circle> At the beginning of creation, aligned with the Three Pure Ones; long leaning on the spiritual platform, contemplation grows deep. Worldly dust brings much suffering, unbearable to the heart; descending in physical form, reincarnated as human.

In our group, I was the only one who, after washing, had an additional purple dot appear in the center of the yellow paper.
The senior said I was particularly destined and was chosen XDDD
So they asked me to collect everyone’s papers and represent the group in returning to the senior sister.

After the senior sister saw me holding the paper with the purple dot, she congratulated me and asked: “Do you know what’s been happening in the club recently?”
“There’s a stalker in the club?”
Senior sister: “Right, we picked up something, but don’t know what it is. Can you guys read it? (takes out a 3.5-inch floppy disk)”

I took the 3.5-inch floppy disk back to find my group members. The senior gave each of us a sin-cleansing paper, saying we could continue practicing at home (later found nothing particularly special about it).

Requesting Help from PTT C_Chat Board Gods

After getting this 3.5-inch disk, everyone went their separate ways trying to figure out how to read it.
If you had followed C_Chat at the time, you’d know how dumbfounded we were after getting it XD
Our group asked a bunch of libraries, and finally even rushed to Guanghua Digital Plaza to buy a floppy drive, but we couldn’t read it!
Some other group even violently cracked open the 3.5-inch disk…
But other groups managed to read it.
It turns out the 3.5-inch disk contained 11 secretly taken photos are not availble to see now 🙁

Becoming Stalkers Together?!

From these 11 photos, we could tell the shooting locations were around the area opposite Taipower Building, from MOS to Sukiya vicinity; the person being stalked was Jian Jingjing.
Based on the photo locations, we discovered that Jian Jingjing had disappeared for 11 minutes between two specific points, and these two points’ positions almost overlapped, between “First Bank” and “Starbucks.”

After searching around, everyone remembered this notice from the Luxin official website mentioning “Luxin Singles”:

So everyone found a vinyl record shop between the two locations. The record shop had “Luxin Friendly Store” posted inside, and there was even a cardboard box labeled “Awaiting Luxin Collection.” At this point, you could ask the record shop for a CD and obtain the single “Welcome New Tomorrow.”

Up to this point, Red Candle’s Devotion ARG physical activities were pretty much concluded. What followed was various internet gods displaying their incredible abilities to find the final answer. Please see the next article “The Ending of Guangxi Pride.”
